Julius stated his father passed away in Atlanta, United States of America, on Saturday, and the cause of his death is mentioned due to a brief illness. At the time of his demise, the veteran was 71 years old. As indicated in the released statement, the late Ojeagbase hailed from Uzebba, Iuleha in Owan West of Edo State. Famously known as Sunny Ojeagbase or (simply “S.O.”) prior to that the added Emmanuel to his name.
The late media businessman broke into the national consciousness as the pioneer publisher of sports news in Nigeria when he founded Sports Souvenir weekly newspaper in the year 1984. He steps down from The Guardian in the year 1984 to follow his dream as a businessman. Between the years 1984 and 1994, Mr Ojeagbase launched many other pioneering sports titles including Complete Football International (CFI), Complete Football magazine, and International Soccer Review (ISR) into the Nigerian sports market.
