Who was Naveen Shekharappa?
As per the sources, an Indian student was killed in the war between Russia and Ukraine in the city of Kharkiv on Tuesday. The Indian student has been identified as Naveen Gyanagoudar Shekharappa. He was the native of Chalageri in Ranebennur Taluk in the Haveri district of Karnataka. He was 21 years old medical student. He was studying medicine at the Kharkiv National Medical University.

He was shifted to a bunker for safety. Although, he died in a missile attack when he went out to buy food. The incident happened when he came out of the bunker to buy food from the nearby supermarket. It was revealed that he talked to his father before coming out of the bunker on Tuesday. He informed his father that around 15 to 20 senior students had been evacuated and he was waiting for his turn along with his other friends.

One of Naveen’s friends, Srikanth stated while talking to a private Kannada news channel that nine of the students were in the bunker. After the night curfew ended, Naveen went out of the bunker around 06:30 am to buy food. He said that Naveen had called him around 07:58 am, asked him to transfer some money to his card. When he called him, some locals received the call and began crying. They informed them that Naveen has died.
He added, “The authorities have asked us to try and reach the western side by train. The train station is 7-8km away from our bunker. The cabs are very expensive. We are scared to go.” The MEA officer called the family of Naveen about his death, he said that he was killed in the shelling when he was outside purchasing groceries. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called Naveen’s parents to console them. Naveen Shekharappa has died on Tuesday. May his soul Rest In Peace.
