American actor Darren Criss has shared the heartbreaking news of his brother’s demise on social media. Taking to Instagram, Darren posted a picture of his brother Charles Criss along with a lengthy message. The actor wrote that it breaks his heart beyond measure to say that his beloved brother has left the world. He added that this is a colossal shock and wrote that his loss leaves behind a debilitating fracture in the lives of his mother, his brother, his three small children, and their respective mothers.

In an emotional tribute, Darren Criss further revealed that his brother who he called “Chuck” had committed suicide. The actor shared that Charles was battling depression for a long time. Even though Darren disclosed that his brother died of suicide, he refrained from sharing the cause of him taking his life. Let us add that Charles’s death comes two years after their father’s demise. In April 2020, Charles William Criss had passed away. As per reports, it was stated that he was suffering from rare heart disease. Now, just two years later, the family has lost another gem in the form of Charles  Criss.

Who Was Darren Criss’ Brother Charles Criss?

Charles Criss was a singer and multi-dimensional instrumentalist. Charles was known for being a member of the Freelance Whales, a New York-based band. The story behind the formation of the band is quite surprising. Reportedly, the members of the band met through Craigslist while some of the bandmates belonged to their known friend circles too. In 2010, Freelance Whales had released their debut album titled “Weathervanes”.

The second album was dropped two years later which was named “Diluvia”. Apart from being a part of the band, Charles went solo too after releasing his solo album in 2013. The Glee actor praised his brother’s impressive skills as a musician in his emotional post on Instagram. Darren added that Charles missed music with his poetic observation of the world and yielded a prolific amount of music that was endlessly unique, fun, clever, intriguing, and beautiful to him.

For those unversed, the brother had formed their own rock band in their garage in high school and named the band “Computer Games”. In 2017, they debuted their first EP. After the heartbreaking news surfaced on the internet, personalities from the music world paid Charles Criss tributes. John Legend thanked Darren for sharing a beautiful tribute and shared his condolences too.
