Recently, videos of a supposed 163-year-old man surfaced on the internet. Mainly, it went viral on TikTok and grabbed the attention of plenty of people. the clips that were uploaded on the profile @auyary13 feature a frail monk. Although the videos were getting uploaded on the video-sharing platform since January, they swept the users’ attention in February 2022. So far, the account has gained more than 530,000 followers on the said app as people are amused by the old man’s age. Let us find out if his age is legit or not.

This week, a series of clips started appearing on everyone’s timeline on TikTok. It took everyone by surprise as it featured a man looking like a monk lying in a hospital bed in Thailand. The monk’s extremely frail body grabbed the attention of the users as everyone got amused learning about him living such a long life. Several rumours started getting spread on the internet claiming the man is practising Sokushinbutsu.

Who Is TikTok 163 Year Old Man?

For those unversed, it is a process of becoming a Buddhist mummy. As the man’s appearance looked convincible, everyone who came across the video believed it and the videos witnessed a huge engagement. Well, let us tell you that not everything you see or read online is true. Yes, the videos might not be fabricated but the fact that he is practising the aforementioned process is fake as he is not doing that.

One video of the man is circulating online where he is seen lying in bed while putting his hands on a child’s head. Surprisingly, the clip got more than 66 million views and since then it started that he is 163-year-old. However, this is not true. The man is old but not that much. As per reports, the man is a 109-year-old Thai man named Luang Pho Yai. A recent study in the Nature Communications journal discloses that humans can live for 120 to 150 years but 163 can not be possible as 150 seems to be the “absolute limit”.

So the rumours doing rounds on social media are not true. Besides, the man does appear to be a monk in Thailand. However, he is not practising Sokushinbutsu. Talking about the account that shared the videos, it is run by the man’s granddaughter named Auyary. The user updates her followers about her old grandmother.
