Various clips of the Ukrainian fighter pilot are being shared by the netizens on social media in which the pilot has been addressed as “Ghost of Kyiv”. As the videos surfaced online, the pilot has become a hot topic. Rumours are rife that the pilot shot down six Russian aircraft. The videos of the same incident have occupied the internet. Many users are calling the pilot the “first European ace since World War II”.

For those unversed, ace means a pilot who has shot down five or more aircraft during combat. Visegrad 24, a Twitter, uploaded the video on the platform which has garnered more than 8 million views. The user claimed that the pilot is called as “Ghost of Kyiv” and had shot down six Russian aircraft on Friday. He added that with that, the pilot has become the first fighter ace of the 21st century. Another post claimed that the pilot downed two Su-35s, one MiG-29 and two Su-25s of the Russian Airforce.

Not just the netizens but the former president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, also posted on Twitter regarding the matter. Sharing a picture of the pilot, Poroshenko wrote that he causes terror in enemies and pride in Ukrainians and has six victories over Russian pilots. The former president continued to write that with such powerful defenders, the country will definitely win. However, the pilot’s identity has not been disclosed yet.

It seems like Poroshenko’s tweet was just an attempt to boost public morale. It is coming forward that the videos circulating online claiming to be of the pilot are fake. The video was originally shared on YouTube by Comrade_Corb. The user revealed that the footage is from DCS and is not related to the Ghost of Kyiv. Nevertheless, Russian troops are closing in on Kyiv after taking control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
