He took his last breath peacefully on Friday morning, March 4, 2022, in an Adelaide hospital and the news was confirmed by his family. They said in a statement,” We are so grateful for all the love and support our family has received from so many people over the last week. It has given us strength in the most difficult week of our lives”.

Rodney William Marsh better known as Rod Marsh was born on November 4, 1947, in Armadale, Western Australia. He used to play backyard cricket with his older brother who later became a professional golfer and won eleven times on the European Tour. They both represented Western Australia at cricket at the schoolboy level. At age of 8, he played the first competitive match for the Armadale under 16s where he also kept wicket. Later, he joined the West Perth district club.
Rod has played 96 test, 92, ODI, 257 FC, and 140 LA matches during his entire career. He was well known for his athletic keeping. Marsh had an amazing partnership with fast bowler Dennis Lillee is the most successful bowler-wicketkeeper union in Test history. With his retirement from all forms of cricket, Rod went on to head up Australia’s selection panel between 2014 and 2016.

Being a cricketer, he was a member of the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, Sports Australia’s Hall of Fame, and the ICC Hall of Fame.
