An Argentine citizen bought Google for two pounds

Silicon Valley: The identity of any website is its domain (website name), but sometimes large companies forget to renew their domain. This is what happened in Argentina, when a web developer bought the domain of technology giant Google for just two pounds.

According to the British News Agency, Google Argentina’s website Google.com.ar was down for two hours for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, when 30-year-old web developer Nicolas Corona visited the website of Network Information Center Argentina, an Argentine domain name seller for one of his clients, there was an advertisement for the sale of Google Argentina’s domain.

Nicholas bought the domain for 270 pesos ( 2 P ) and shared a photo of it on his Twitter account. Within hours, more than 79,000 people liked the tweet.

On the other hand, Google Argentina has confirmed the news that their domain Google.com.ar was bought by another person but Google has regained control of this domain.

Twitter users say Google may have forgotten to renew its domain, but a Google spokeswoman did not say why the domain was put up for sale. However, he said that the expiry date of the said domain name is July 2021.
