He was born on September 16, 1947, in Musa Khel, Mianwali District. He served as a lecturer in the Urdu department of Gordon College, Rawalpindi. Along with Government College, Lahore, and FC College, Mianwali also continued to provide teaching services.

Dr. Jamal Niazi started his journalistic journey as an editor of Government College Lahore’s magazine ‘Ravi’ while he was also the editor of the monthly ‘Peter’.

For a long time, he also wrote a column in a well-known national newspaper called ‘Be Niyaziyaan’. Former President Asif Ali Zardari awarded him Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his excellent columnism. He is survived by a widow Rifat Niazi, two sons Hassan Khan Niazi, Salman Khan Niazi, and a daughter.
