His friend Ahmed Jaghbir was found guilty of procuring, helping, and counseling anonymous persons to kill him and convicted to 11 years in prison. Now, Ms. Hage has broken her silence to reject she was ever the mistress of Barakat, disclosing that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and still fears for her safety. She told the news outlet that “I always wonder why they let me go. I want to know why they let me live.”
Ms. Hage remembers Barakat waking up and immediately “palming” her away to the other side of his custom-made double-king bed as he was shot at. Why was Bikies Arrested?
They had been discreetly dating for just a few months and then 24-year-old Ms. Hage was living with her traditional, “strict” parents who did not like her staying out all night. Ms. Hage stated that “Normally, I had just stay until late but still used to go home. But that night I was not well, so I went to his bed and fell asleep. I knew I had had to wake up and go back home at some point as my mother would stress out…Next thing he was gone, passed away in my arms.” That night was like a nightmare.
Ms. Hage asserted that she had no idea why her beau was killed. He had never expressed any kind of concern to her about his safety and appeared well-liked. A hairdresser from the west of Sydney, Ms Hage insists she was so far removed from the life of crime she now knows Barakat and his familiarity direct. She said that “It was a completely different world. I was exposed to a lot more once we had got together.”
